Code of Conduct

The following code of conduct can be found in the AIDA Constitution.  Tournament hosts may add additional requirements on participants.

16.1 No Participant May:

16.1.a        Use offensive language or behaviour

16.1.b       Make denigrating comments on the basis of age, race, sex, disability, religion of sexuality

16.1.c        Harass, threaten or intimidate other partifcipants or in any way detract from their enjoyment of the tournament

16.1.d       Damage or destroy any property that does not belong to theml

16.1.e        Harass, threaten or intimidate delegeates to vote a particular way

16.2 The provisions of 16.1 will apply

16.2.a      During debates

16.2.b      During any formal event organized as part of the tournament

16.2.c       During any social event organized as part of the tournament

16.2.d      On transportation organized as part of the tournament

16.2.e       In accommodation organized as part of the tournament

16.3 Participants include all:

16.3.a       Debaters

16.3.b       Adjudicators

16.3.c       Organizers

16.3.d       Coaches

16.3.e       Observers

16.4 During Debates, Debaters will:

16.1.1  treat the occasion, each other, and the adjudicators with respect.

16.1.2  respect the rules of the competition;

16.1.3  accept the adjudicator’s decision

16.1.4  will not: disrupt or distract from another debater’s speech or the adjudicators’ comments;

16.3 Adjudicators will:

16.3.1  treat the debate in a formal and professional manner;

16.3.2  limit their adjudications to ten minutes and make constructive comments to assist debaters.

16.4 Participants will not:

16.4.1  harass, threaten or intimidate other participants or in any way detract from their enjoyment of  the tournament;

16.4.2  damage or destroy any property that does not belong to them;

16.4.3  harass, threaten or intimidate delegates to vote in a particular way.
