AIDA Accreditation Test : May09

Monash Australs and AIDA have created an adjudication accreditation test that will be used for the upcoming Monash Australs and will possibly be adopted by council as an official AIDA Accreditation test. The test is based largely on an updated AIDA accreditation system, but uses the Monash Australs adjudication core, along with AIDA markers, to evaluate and grade the test.

The objective of this test is to increase adjudication development prior to Australs, to evaluate the AIDA Accreditation system and give the Australs adjudication core more information on their judges. This test is not meant to replace other forms of adjudicator assessment, for example the adjudication test at Australs or judge feedback. How the results of the test would be used is completely up to the Australs adj core.

For those who take the test, you will get an objective assessment of your adjudication abilities (in the form of a rank of 0 to 4) and suggestions for improvement. The test aims to provide you with additional or different information about your abilities, and should not be taken as a definitive mark of your standard. Since this is not an official AIDA Test (not all markers are AIDA markers), your grade will not be an official AIDA grade. However, a motion will be put forward at AIDA Council this year to recognize this test an official test.

The text used for the test is the Austral-Asian Debating Guide, edited by Ray D'Cruz. This guide, along with a comprehensive guide on how to conduct the test, the test videos and adjudication sheets are available for download at http://austral.asiandebating.org/testpackage . It is strongly advised that you read the AIDA Accreditation guide before taking the test.
